We get it, you LOVE your family and your partner’s family…but picture this, a holiday where you don’t get asked a single time when you are getting married, when you’re having kids, what you’re doing after school, or anything about the job that you hate. Ahhh bliss!
And how is that possible you may ask?
Escaping to the great outdoors! Best part is, if you have a family member who has boundary issues, they can’t call if you don’t have service!
All joking aside, our team are huge advocates for adventuring on or around the holidays. Most people steer clear because of the cold, but with a few helpful tips, you will be bundled, fulfilled, and actually return from the holidays feeling refreshed!
So, here are our best suggestions for your escape plan…
- Tent Camping (with proper gear)
Camping in the winter can be such a magical and freeing experience. No matter where you are located! Just be sure to pack the proper gear based off where you are going. If you plan to enjoy a tent camping we suggest the Nature Hike Cloud-Up. It’s really great for all chilly weather and has the snow skirt in case mother nature decides to give you a white Christmas!
2. RVing
We are huge fans of packing up a few things for the weekend and hopping in the RV to enjoy the great outdoors. If you don’t have your own RV, Outdoorsy makes it incredibly easy to rent one! (Bonus you don’t have the RENT ME!!! Stickers all over the side that scream, I don’t know what I’m doing). Outdoorsy is like Airbnb but for RV’s and Trailers. You don’t need any specific drivers license and shockingly no previous experience usually required.
3. Renting a Cabin!
And if all of that seems like way too much of a hassle, nothing screams intimate Christmas like renting a remote cabin and enjoying it solo with a good book or with someone you love that won’t ask you about who you voted for! Airbnb provides tons of options.
So whether you plan to hop on a plane for your adventure or pitch a tent in the backyard and tell your friends and family you’re off the grid (secret is safe with us) these are great ways to spend the holidays. It really brings the simplicity and joy into the holidays when you escape the drama and spend it in the great outdoors!
